The standard structure of a ProblemShared Autism assessment is as follows:
Observational Session: 1 hour 30 minutes
- This session is attended by yourself (i.e. the person being assessed), and should be done on a laptop, tablet or similar device with a large screen. This session cannot go ahead on a mobile phone.
Informant Interview: 3 hours
- This session is attended by the person who you have nominated to be your informant. Ideally this will be a parent or older sibling, as the object of this session is for the clinician to find out about your early developmental history and childhood.
The above sessions run concurrently and begin at 9:30am.
Diagnosis: 30 minutes
- Once the above sessions have taken place, your clinicians will take some time to review the information and agree upon a diagnosis. You will then be invited to attend a diagnosis/feedback session that afternoon.
The above sessions all take place on the same day.
If your child is the one being assessed, we will arrange to start the Collateral Interview 15 minutes later at 9:45am so that you can assist in setting up the session and ensuring that they feel happy and comfortable in the appointment, before moving to another space to attend your session.
If you do not have someone to nominate as your informant, please let us know during your Welcome or Introductory Call, so that we can book a different type of assessment for you. Please see further information here on Self DHI Single Session Assessments.
