At the beginning of the assessment the clinician will establish consent to proceed from you and your child. With younger children it may be possible to proceed with parental consent only, however situations where a child is not consenting need to be considered on a case-by-case basis.
As children grow older, issues related to consent become more complex, and with children aged 12 and over it may not be possible to proceed if the child is not consenting. In order to establish consent, the clinician will need to discuss the nature of the assessment.
If you believe that there are reasons that the nature of the assessment should be withheld from your child, then please notify us as soon as possible ahead of the session.
