You've been referred, you've completed your pre-assessment documents, you've reached the top of the waitlist, and now you've had your diagnostic assessment.
So, what happens next?
The Diagnosis
As part of your assessment, you'll have had a Feedback Session with your assessor where you were told the outcome of your assessment.
The diagnosis you received will be formalised in a Diagnostic Report, which you'll receive via email up to four to six weeks after your assessment. This report will detail your assessment in full, including a cover letter which can act as proof of diagnosis and recommendations for support. Your report will be sent to your GP as well.
If you received a non-diagnosis, you'll be referred back to your GP for support. You'll still receive recommendations in your report to help with the symptoms you described to your assessor.
Similarly, if your assessment was inconclusive, we'll explain the reasons why to your GP and they'll be able to provide you with further guidance.
The cost of your assessment with us is covered by the NHS regardless of the outcome.
Post-Diagnostic Support
At the end of your Feedback Session, your assessor will go through the options for post-diagnostic support available to you through the Right to Choose. They'll help you decide whether you'd like to opt in for these services; post-diagnostic support isn't mandatory, and you don't need an additional referral from your GP for them as you'll be sent to the relevant team by your assessor.
Our post-diagnostic pathways include:
- Psychoeducation (following a diagnosis of ADHD)
- Psychoeducation (following a diagnosis of Autism)
- Medication (following a diagnosis of ADHD)
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation offers educational sessions and resources delivered by our expert clinicians to help support clients following their diagnosis. These sessions are available through on-demand video recordings.
You'll learn more about the current understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions and all the ways neurodivergence impacts day-to-day life over four sessions.
For children, our content is tailored towards parents, carers and guardians to promote education and awareness on their child's condition and ways to support them.
You can learn more about the Psychoeducation pathway in our Help Centre.
Medication
Medication offers a titration service through our team of prescribers and pharmacists. In some cases, medication can be prescribed to help treat ADHD, though these require a careful clinical process to find the right medication and dose to treat your symptoms.
You can also learn more about ADHD Medication in our Help Centre.
Can I access post-diagnostic support if I already have a diagnosis?
Unfortunately, our post-diagnostic pathways are not available through the Right to Choose scheme for clients who have been diagnosed by another provider.
This means you cannot be referred for Psychoeducation or Medication exclusively - you must be assessed by ProblemShared first to be eligible for these services.
If you have an existing NHS or Right to Choose diagnosis, and you’d like to use our services privately, you do not need to be re-assessed for post-diagnostic support. Contact your health insurer for more information.
