Joining the webinar: Click the Zoom link provided in your email invitation.
You do not need a Zoom account to join.
If you join through a browser like Chrome, Safari, or Edge:
- Some features may be missing entirely
- Chat may not function correctly
- Reactions may not appear
- Captions may not be available
Using zoom features:
Zoom chat:
The chat box is located on the right side of your screen.
The facilitators will open/close the chat at set times.
When the chat is open:
- You can post comments or reflections.
- If you want everyone to see your message, set “Send to: Everyone”.
- Please keep comments respectful, general, and appropriate, as they are visible to all participants.
When the chat is closed:
You will still be able to see facilitator messages, but you won’t be able to type.
Chat etiquette:
- Avoid sharing personal or identifying information in the chat.
- Be mindful that we cannot monitor every comment.
- Some comments may be read aloud as part of the discussion—but not all.
Reactions:
Click the heart icon on the toolbar to select a reaction (like a thumbs up, heart, etc.).
You can use reactions throughout the webinar if you’d like.
Click “CC” on your toolbar to turn captions on if this helps you.
Please note: Not all Zoom features work the same way on every device.
This means you may notice some tools—such as chat, reactions, or Q&A—look different or are limited depending on how you join the webinar.
Zoom on mobile has the most limited features.
You may experience:
- The chat box opening in a pop‑up instead of at the side of the screen
- Difficulty switching between Zoom and Slido
- Some reactions or icons being hidden behind menus
- Limited ability to view slides and chat at the same time
- Closed captions sometimes appearing smaller or needing to be turned on manually
Tablets offer more features than phones, but still fewer than desktop or laptop computers.
You may notice:
- Chat appears in a side panel, but sometimes covers part of the slides
- Switching between Zoom and Slido may temporarily hide the webinar screen
- Some reactions or settings may not be available
- Closed captions may not always auto‑display
Laptops & desktop computers: These devices provide the full Zoom experience.
This means you will have:
- Chat panel visible on the right side of the screen
- Easy access to reactions, captions, Q&A, and settings
- Smooth switching between Zoom and Slido windows
- Ability to see the slides and the chat at the same time
- Clear navigation bar across the bottom of the screen
Using Slido for Q & A & polls
We use Slido for questions and interactive polls.
You can join by scanning the QR code provided during the webinar on your phone

What can you do on Slido?
- Submit questions for the Q & A section
- Answer polls.
- Please put specific questions in Slido, as zoom chat moves too quickly and questions can be missed.
At some points you may be provided with a link in the chat and asked to complete a short survey.
