-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who can use our private ADHD service?
You can use our private ADHD assessment service if you are an adult and our service is suitable for you.
You can join if:
- you're new to ProblemShared; or
- you're eligible to move from another ProblemShared pathway, such as a Right to Choose waiting list.
Before you pay, we'll ask you some questions to check that our service is suitable for you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How much does a private ADHD assessment cost?
Our private ADHD assessment service costs £950. You will be expertly assessed by registered clinicians. You will also get a full written report, and your clinician will talk you through the assessment results.
If you receive a diagnosis of ADHD, you will have free access to our Psychoeducation webinars for 8 weeks. These can support you with your journey after you have been diagnosed.
If suitable for medication, you will be able to pay for your medication journey with us.

Your private ADHD assessment journey
1. Create your account
You do not need a GP referral.
Which email address should I use?
If you're new to ProblemShared:
You can use your usual email address.
If you already have a ProblemShared account or you're on our Right to Choose waiting list:
You need to use a different email address to create your private assessment account.
This also applies if you've previously had an assessment or post-diagnostic support with us.
What information will I need?
During enrolment, we'll ask for your:
- personal details
- GP details
- emergency contact details
- consent preferences.
You'll also answer some questions to help us check whether our service is suitable and safe for you.
2. Complete your suitability checks
We'll review your answers to check whether our service is suitable for you.
If we need more information, we'll contact you to arrange a screening call before you can continue.
You'll also complete a separate check about your suitability for ADHD medication.
Your medication suitability does not affect whether you can have an ADHD assessment.
3. Pay for your ADHD assessment
Once you've completed enrolment and we've confirmed that you can continue, you'll be asked to pay for your ADHD assessment.
You need to make payment before you can start the pre-assessment stage.
Need to cancel or change your appointment?
Read our guide to cancellations, refunds, and missed appointments.
4. Complete your pre-assessment information
Before we can arrange your assessment, you'll need to:
- provide proof of your identity
- provide proof of your address
- complete your ADHD pre-assessment forms
- ask someone who knows you well to complete an informant questionnaire.
We'll check everything you've provided.
If anything is missing or we need more information, we'll let you know.
5. Have your ADHD assessment
Once we've received and accepted all of your required forms and documents, you're ready for your assessment.
Your ADHD assessment will take place within 2 weeks of this point.
When does the 2-week timeframe start?
It does not start when you enrol or pay.
It starts once we've received and accepted all of your required pre-assessment forms and documents.
Your assessment will:
- last approximately 2 hours
- take place online by secure video call
- be completed by one of our specialist clinicians.
Your clinician will review the information you've provided as part of your assessment.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What happens after my assessment?
Your clinician will discuss the outcome of your assessment with you.
If you receive an ADHD diagnosis, they'll also discuss the next steps and any support recommended for you.
Psychoeducation
If recommended, you can access our on-demand ADHD psychoeducation programme at no additional cost.
You'll have:
- four on-demand webinars
- access to the webinars for 8 weeks.
You can choose when to watch them during your 8-week access period.
Medication
If you receive an ADHD diagnosis and medication is recommended, you may be able to access our private medication service.
We'll check whether medication is clinically suitable for you.

Frequently asked questions
About your assessment
How long will I have to wait for an assessment?
Your assessment date will be within 2 weeks from when you have completed your enrolment and all pre-assessment information.
Will I be refunded if I don’t receive a diagnosis
You are paying for the assessment itself: your clinician’s time, their expertise, and the operational admin. You are not paying for a particular outcome, so we cannot offer a refund if the assessment does not lead to an ADHD diagnosis.
If your clinician does not find that you have ADHD, you will still have a call with them to talk through what they did find and what that means for you, including any next steps that might help.
I was assessed by ProblemShared previously but did not receive a diagnosis. Can I pay for a private ADHD assessment?
If you have already had an assessment with us, we may not able to assess you again through the private ADHD assessment service in certain circumstances.
Our Clinical Intake team will review your situation and determine whether you would be suitable for reassessment with ProblemShared.
About Medication
I already have an ADHD diagnosis from another provider. Can I pay for medication only?
No. Medication on its own is not part of our private ADHD assessment service. It’s something we are hoping to offer in future, and we will post any updates on our website.
I have been assessed by ProblemShared and I’m on the medication waitlist. Can I pay privately for medication?
Not at the moment. Private medication is currently only available to clients who have had their ADHD assessment through our private service - it isn't offered as a standalone service for clients assessed through another route, including if you're on our NHS-funded (Right to Choose) medication waitlist.
Paying privately won't change your position on the medication waitlist. We may look to expand this in future and will post any updates on our website.
If you’re currently on our Right to Choose pathway
I’m on the Right to Choose waitlist. Can I pay for a private ADHD assessment?
Yes, if you have not already had an assessment with us. That applies whether you came to us through Right to Choose (or through another partner).
When the service opens, you will need to sign up for a new account, using a different email address to the one on your Right to Choose account.
Once you have provided your details and paid for the assessment, the team can support in transferring any pre-assessment information you have already uploaded to your existing account, across to your new account.
Will I lose my place on the Right to Choose waitlist if I pay privately?
No, paying privately and your Right to Choose referral are separate. If you decide to pay privately, it will not change your place on the waitlist.
After you have your ADHD assessment through the Private Pay service, we will close the ADHD pathway on your Right to Choose referral, as it will no longer be needed.
If you have any other referrals, such as waiting for an Autism assessment through Right to Choose, those will not be affected.
I’m currently on the Right to Choose (RTC) waitlist for an assessment – can you advise on my position - so I can decide whether to pay privately?
We are unable to advise on your exact position on the ADHD waitlist, or when you will be booked in through Right to Choose.
Many integrated care boards (ICBs), the NHS bodies that fund these assessments, limit how many they can fund. Where that applies, assessments can take longer than the wait time we advertised when you were referred.
